AQUAvine in touch with nature...and his computer
Review by Nicki Escudero of AMP.az

This fresh-faced 18-year-old has been writing since he was 10, and his polished dance beats put him in contention to hang with the big boys. Wesley Bowers took his stage name AQUAvine because of his respect for nature, but when it comes to his music, it's all about the technology, as he works solo on his computer with his keyboard. He released his album WiTHiN independently this past October, and it contains everything from pop to techno.

Give me a brief bio of the project.

I grew up in Salt Lake City with my parents, my three sisters, and my three brothers. I inherited my passion for music from both of my parents. My mother would sing in the church choir and both of us would sing duets. My father used to be a drummer and I have good rhythm due to him. When I was very young I would often do recordings at home, usually a variety of song genres. I could never really say when I started singing. I just enjoyed it so much, that I knew at a very, very early age that I wanted to be a singer. Apart from singing, I’m an artist and I've been writing off and on for eight years. Next to dance music, I also love gospel, celtic/gaelic, alternative rock, progressive rock, jazz, instrumental, classical, as well as a variety of other music types.

How do you feel you fit in with the Arizona music scene?

I have only been in Arizona since January. I've written and recorded more songs since I've been here than at previous locations.

Explain one of your favorite songs and why it stands out.

A song that I like is called "Foreign" because it talks about the world and how it has changed so much and that we should try to make it better and stop the chaos that has saturated the world with war and other detrimental actions.

What’s up next for you?

I am hoping that I can perform live and get other people to join me for collaborations.

Describe yourself as an artist in three words.

Unique, original, creative
